The Calmar Union Flag
The Calmar Union of Denmark, Sweden and Norway was established AD 1389 and staid in power until 1521.
The Calmar Union was never declared null and void, but just ceased to be operative.
The Scandinavians were not willing to cooperate, but rather used the Union to improve on their own status.
Personal power and personal wealth are still given the highest priority.

taken by F. N. Robinson of Howard, Dakota Territory on August 28, 1884. The back imprinted (now over printed the face on this giclée) makes the claim and gives the following description: "The storm passed 22 miles west of the city. It was first noticed at 4 o' clock, p. m., moving in a southeasterly direction, remaining in sight over two hours; killing several people and destroying property in its course. It is printed in a warm sepia duotone color in keeping with the original. It shows three tornado funnels, one mean one touching the ground. This is not Kansas.

Dakota as of 1887
Before the 1889 statehood, there was a push to make a state out of what is now North & South Dakota. They even had a U.S. flag designed with 36 stars, but it never came about. It was called "The flag that never was."
