1898 It's the next township south of Verdi. My Grandfather moved there in 1897. He's listed in section #2.

Altona Township, was organized February 28, 1880, received its name by vote of its settlers, for the city of Altoona in Pennsylvania, but an error in spelling changed it to the name of a city in Germany, adjoining Hamburg. Altona is also the name of a village and township in New York and of villages in Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, and Missouri.
